What is Motakalim?

Motakalim is an AI conversational book. Instead of passively reading, you talk to the book—and to the author’s ideas—across literature, science, history, and philosophy. It stays faithful to tone, context, and meaning, and can cite or point back to the text when possible. Premium adds uploads and quote-aware grounding.

How is this different from a summary app?
  • Dialogue, not digestion — you explore ideas interactively, not just read a recap.
  • Faithfulness — responses keep the book’s moral frame, style, and worldview.
  • Quote-aware — references passages; avoids distortion or over-modernizing.
  • Interpretation flow — Literal → Symbolic → Philosophical → Personal.

Goal: Transform reading into understanding, and understanding into action.

What is a “Book Agent”?

A Book Agent is a tuned conversational profile that reflects an author’s worldview, tone, and recurring concepts. It includes:

  • Voice & style aligned to the work/author.
  • Interpretive guardrails to avoid distortion/spoilers.
  • Grounding with excerpts/notes for quote-aware replies. Premium
  • Starter prompts to explore themes, symbols, characters, methods.
How do I start my first conversation?

  2. (Optional) Add an excerpt/PDF to cite from.
  3. Choose mode — voice or text.
  4. Ask — begin with a scene, idea, or quote.

Great starters

  • “What tension is the author revealing in chapter 2?”
  • “Explain this passage literally → symbolically → personally.”
  • “Compare this idea to [another author]. Where do they diverge?”
  • “Show me a quote that supports your reading.”
How do you stay faithful to the book?
  • Faithfulness Mode — conserves tone, moral frame, and context.
  • Quote-aware grounding — detects/anchors to passages when available.
  • Ambiguity policy — marks open questions as intentionally unresolved.
  • Spoiler policy — avoids spoilers unless you explicitly ask.
Can I upload my own PDFs or notes?

Yes. Upload chapters, notes, or highlights to focus the dialogue. Answers will reference your material when relevant. Premium

Privacy: uploads are private to your account; remove them anytime.

Multilingual by default (e.g., AR • FR • EN • ES • DE). You can ask in one language and explore quotes/ideas in another.

  • Educators building guided dialogues around texts.
  • Researchers comparing authors across domains.

Can Motakalim misinterpret or hallucinate?

We minimize this via faithfulness guardrails, quote-aware retrieval, and ambiguity labeling. If something feels off, ask: “Show the supporting line” or “mark speculation vs. text”.
